The Ultimate Gaming Chair

Here I thought that the Pyramat Sound Chair was the ultimate gaming chair, but I was wrong. Very wrong.

That title definitely goes to the Ultimate Game Chair. The name really gets the point across, eh?

This chair is packed with features. To start off, there are 12 vibration motors throughout the chair that are synchronized with the games action. Nerdy and cool.

As far as sound goes, you can use your stock headphones from a MP3 player etc, or plug the chair into your home stereo system to get full surround sound. There are adjustable 3D stereo speakers built into the chair as well.

Any type of gaming accessory will probably work with the chair, including steering wheels and custom controllers.

Comfort was definitely not overlooked when this chair was designed. It’s all leather material, has an adjustable headrest, leg rest, and even a beverage and remote controller holder. Oh, and I forgot to mention that this chair will give you a nice massage, too. Seriously.

Quite a few game consoles are compatible with the Ultimate Gaming Chair, including the PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, PC, Mac, PS1, and Xbox Live. For audio only, you can use all those and your iPod, DS, PSP, or generic MP3 player.

Just to recap, you get a massage chair, beverage holder, stereo sound, vibrators synced to the game, and a remote holder. If you’re a serious gamer, price means nothing, but if you’re not, the $400 price tag might give you some second thoughts.

Handmade PVC Pipe Speakers

These handmade speakers named, White Sea Cucumbers, keep your audio equipment looking a little on the industrial side. The name itself is more than a little flaky considering the materials used, but you can just call them PVC speakers to your buddies. It might be worth it to actually have a set of speakers that aren’t quite as mass produced as the others out there on the market.

Each of the pipes holds a 3 inch magnesium/aluminum alloy range driver. They’re said to have nice sound with a lot of low end bass for such a small speaker. The frequency response is 80-20,000. In order to get them up and running you’ll need a separate amplifier or purchase a mini amplifier through the same seller that has these little pipe speakers. You can pick up this particular pair for $199 through Etsy.

Android Phones Selling Like Hot Cakes - Schmidt

From being a fringe mobile operating system back in 2008 to a dominant force in the smart phone OS war - Google's Android has certainly come a long way - in a not so long time frame.

Android, which first appeared on a device back in October 2008 when the T-Mobile G1 was launched, is undoubtedly a force to reckon with in the smartphone OS space. While Symbian still manages to hold on to its lead, both iOS and Android are gnawing in to its market share with increasing ferocity with each passing day.

In a latest revelation, Google CEO Eric Schmidt has said that as many as 200,000 Android based devices are being sold each day. He was speaking at the Techonomy conference held at Sacramento California where he also highlighted the fact that Android is now outstripping the growth of even the iOS4.

Schmidt also revealed that just over two months ago, the sales figures were around 100,00 per day. That translates to a 100 percent growth in just over two months. "It looks like Android is not just phenomenal but incredibly phenomenal in its growth rate. God knows how long that will continue," Schmidt said.

Do you think Android will sustain this kind of growth well in to the future and some day, topple Symbian from its coveted pedestal?

iPhone 4 Poor Reception not Apple's Fault: Survey

Recently, Apple had held the Antennagate press conference to address the iPhone 4 network reception issues. And now a new research report from ChangeWave backs Steve Jobs' claims that iPhone 4's antenna had nothing to do with call drops. As per the survey, 213 new iPhone 4 owners reported lesser call drops compared to iPhone 3GS owners. Now it's being buzzed over the web that iPhone 4 reception issue was kind of a media blowout.

Initial complaints did alarm several potential buyers but there was mixed reaction to it. Now the new research report states that just 5.2 percent of iPhone 4 owners said they had dropped a call. Comparatively, a June 2010 survey of iPhone 3GS owners found that 6.3 percent had experienced dropped calls. Also, the initial consumer satisfaction ratings for iPhone 4 stated that 72 percent of users were 'very satisfied' and 21 percent were 'somewhat satisfied' with the device.

One thing that iPhone 4 owners disliked the most was the requirement to user AT&T network. Next that follows close was the coverage and speeds of 3G networks with AT&T. Doesn't this obviously imply that the users weren't happy with AT&T? However, Apple did some damage control by rolling out free iPhone 4 Bumper program.

Very few users outside U.S. have complained about poor reception issues with the iPhone 4. Like in Australia, Sydney Morning Herald reported no such major outburst of reception issues with early iPhone 4 adopters over there.

India is deemed to see iPhone 4 via Airtel and Vodafone networks in October. We'll have to wait and hear from the initial adopters whether the reception issue is from the network operator's side or something was really wrong with the phone.

The Fastest Single Graphics Card On The Planet:Asus ARES/2DIS/4GD5

Asus present Ares: a graphics card dedicated to god of war!

We have finally seen the card Asus Ares. Like Mars before it, this graphics card is a monster, both by the weight, design by what lies beneath the enormous cooler. To believe that the manufacturer really likes to name his mythology monsters like the gods of war of the Romans and Greeks from antiquity. When will Venus with a pink and PCBs,’re crazy, a freshener?

Ares, the long-awaited HD5970

The model was designed in March on two graphics processors GeForce GTX 285 with more memory than 4 GB of GDDR3. And Ares is soaked in the same steel. Except here, they are actually two ATI Radeon HD 5870 which are united on the same piece of PCB with a chip acting as a bridge between the two CrossFire. The 4 GB of GDDR5 memory are part, as a dual memory bus of 256 bits.

We have not seen in operation, unfortunately, but the template of the Ares is a reflection of performance Asus advance: titanic. This is a true dual GPU solutions upscale like no more!

Big, heavy and tasty …

Consisting of a fan and a solid copper heatsink with six heatpipes, this graphics card offers a huge reinforcement of PCBs thick aluminum on the back, encouraging the transit flow of air at the back of map. This plate also prevents the card does not break under the weight of the cooling kit. Unable to evaluate the mass. Nevertheless, we expressed our concern to Asus about the perfect maintenance of the card in a box because just by weighing it is easy to imagine that it could damage your configuration if you do not attach correctly. The manufacturer has assured us he would consider a system of maintenance. Finally, it should not be taken less than three PCI-Express to supply (8-pin + 2 x 6-pin): no doubt that fat graphics card will have any appetite in terms of watts.

No pricing or availability yet in Europe but Asus plans to begin production by July. A chance to see the back .. but not for all PCs!

* A graphics card exception

* A cooler presented as efficient and quiet

Negative points

* Heavy

International Cricket 2010 [PS3]

While the curtains are down on the FIFA World Cup, it's back to cricket for many of us. Cricket is one game that shines without any fair weather fans. Also, Cricket, hopefully, will not have those annoying Vuvuzelas.

Codemasters' International Cricket 2010 is one such game that arrives in the month of the Carribian T20 Tournament. This new International Cricket 2010 jumps few steps ahead of Codemaster's last Cricket game - Ashes 2009.

International Cricket 2010 (IC 2010) is meant for Cricket fans who're interested in just one thing - enjoying the game on the PlayStation 3 console. Certainly you can hit sixes off your opponents bowling attack or break stumps while you bowl. The game does a wonderful job in the core aspects of cricket.

When compared to Ashes 2009, the presentation of IC 2010 is excellent in many areas. This time Codies (nickname for Codemasters) have introduced a new 'Action Cam' feature that takes the user to the pitch and experience the drama going on. This game is officially licensed by England & Wales Cricket Board and Australian Cricket Board. This means you'll see player names from only two licensed teams - England and Australia.

Thankfully, the Player Editor allows changing names of cricketers and even select custom looks. However, some instances of fake names are cocky. For instance, Shane Bond is named James Blond. Now that's taking a bit too far. You'll see that hardly any of the faces in Player Editor match with the real cricketer's face.

International Cricket 2010 includes licensed cricket kits and stadia options for more closer to real cricket gaming. To keep this part challenging, IC 2010 retains certain brands as unlockable items. If you're a fan of good commentators, then this game offers Shayne Waren and Jonathan Agnew as stellar commentators.

Graphics

You'll be delighted to see nice player graphics instead of Pinocchio like wooden finished characters. Improved graphics will surely be noticeable, like the almost accurate stadia. We expect the next Cricket game from Codemaster to have more accurate player details. Quality of the cut scenes and replays are commendable. I wish I could choose cheerleaders to do a jig after a smashing stroke or taking a wicket.

Gameplay

If you've been playing Codemaster's Cricket games then there isn't any major change in the gameplay. This game won't offer you much if you take a button mashing approach. I'd rather suggest you get started with the bowling and batting tutorials.

Going over the tutorials for getting used to fundamental skills of the game can be a bit of a set back if you plan to jump for a specific skill. It takes the traditional approach which means you can't jump to lesson five without passing the first four. Do note that the tutorial is part of a bigger game and I hope you don't waste hours mastering any particular skill.

The improved cut scenes and replays don't come with custom controls. For instance if you've hit a six off Brett Lee's fireball, you won't be able to replay it over and over again. Also, every replay starts with the bowlers run up, which consumes a couple of precious seconds for impatient players like me.

Once again camera angles in the replays appear unusual and discomforting. You'll have to watch few replays to experience what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, you can't choose to watch the replays from different angles. A small mini-view of the pitch would have been fine when the batsman is taking singles, doubles or more. However, you don't see the batsman running and the fielder does not have a clue which end he's throwing the ball.

Batting

In cricket, batting is one amazing aspect where you can make eleven other players run around. Undoubtedly, the new Power Stick feature for Batting is the most entertaining part. As mentioned earlier, button mashing won't take you far. So it's better you get started with some tutorials to master some of the basic stroke play skills. The game of cricket is all about timing. If you master timing your strokes, I promise you'll enjoying whacking bowlers like anything.

What I really loved is the dedicated stroke style buttons for the batsman. This means you can hit particular buttons for an aggressive shot or play a defensive stroke, the rest is just giving direction with the analogue stick.

Power Stick feature allows you to hit shots with perfect timing to get quick singles.

However, what disappointed me was that I never got to hit any trademark strokes of a particular batsman. For instance, you can't make Harbhajan Singh hit a 'Reverse Sweep'. If the custom/trademark shots were included then it would've been fun to watch them with the 'Action Cam' feature. Hence, I believe there's huge scope of improvement in this section.

Bowling

Identical to the bowling gameplay in Ashes 2009, you'll be happy to choose where to pitch the ball, your line, power and then go for variations on it. Now you can choose where to pitch the ball in the circle rather than hitting it at the last moment. No more no-ball annoyances this time.

Pace bowling enthusiasts can take control of their swings while spinners can boggle the batsman with their spin.

Trickstar has done an excellent job in refining the way you bowl in this game. It really matches the actual way any bowler thinks.

Verdict

This game surely does stand strong in the core fundamentals. The new 'check out field position' feature with Broadcast cam is superb. Turn off HUD and then use the action for the dramatic moments. The offline multiplayer hit the right shot for me, but I think online multiplayer would be fun if you've mastered the skills.

At times you'll find your batsman sliding too much on the pitch for quick singles but won't have a stain on his uniform. Fielding might turn out to be an odd ball for you, so you can totally make up for it with better bowling.

You'll certainly love the 20 over matches and I'm sure that's where you'll have to excel in your skills. However, if you go for long test matches, you may end up being bored. At times I found the typical after delivery reaction of batsman a bit unnerving and redundant. Player and game statistics could have been better for keeping track of performances.

To sum it up, this is a fun Cricket game that you can buy if you're looking forward for fun with friends and family. Zapak is distributing International Cricket 2010 in India and it is available at Rs. 1999 for the PS3.

Saudi Arabia to Ban BlackBerry Services by Friday

Troubles for BlackBerry services in the Middle East took a turn for the worse when Saudi Arabia announced its decision to ban BlackBerry services in the country effective Friday, August 6, 2010.

The move comes after the Saudi Arabian telecoms regulator, the Communications and Information Technology Commission, informed mobile service providers in Saudi Arabia to halt BlackBerry services starting Friday. The reason for the ban is the fact that the BlackBerry service "in its present state does not meet regulatory requirements", according to Saudi authorities.

This ban comes just a few hours after UAE said it plans to ban the service by October citing similar security related reasons.

India too is contemplating a ban on BlackBerry services following RIM's acceptance of the fact that there cannot be a "backdoor" entry to BlackBerry servers of corporates who are given their own keys. The data on these servers is not accessible even by RIM. The company, while accepting the fact that it needs to adhere to regulatory diktats, also added that the privacy of their clients too are of utmost importance.

Looking at the way this is moving ahead, things sure doesn't seem rosy for either RIM or BlackBerry users in these countries.
